By accessing or using Linger (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Linger is a personal diary web app. It uses Google sign-in and Google Drive to store diary entries as plain-text files in your Google Drive. Cloudflare Pages and Workers provide the app's hosting, authentication, and backend requests to Google Drive. Your entry contents pass through the backend while it handles those requests.
Linger also offers an optional S3 backup. If you configure and enable it, Linger copies existing entries to the AWS S3 bucket you specify and mirrors subsequent saves and deletions. Google Drive remains the primary copy. Backup processing requires the app to remain open and authorized. Reloading the app or token expiry may require Google authorization again. See the Privacy Policy for details about data processing and service providers.
You sign in with a Google account and authorize Linger to use the Google permissions shown during sign-in. You are responsible for keeping your Google account credentials secure and for activity carried out through your account. You may revoke Linger's access through Google Account → Apps & services.
You retain ownership of the diary entries and other content you create. You give Linger permission to process that content as needed to provide the features you use, including saving, searching, displaying, exporting, restoring, and deleting entries in Google Drive and, if you enable it, backing them up to your configured S3 bucket. Linger does not claim ownership of your content.
You are responsible for the content you store and for complying with applicable laws. If you enable S3 backup, you are responsible for the AWS account, IAM role, bucket permissions, bucket settings, and any AWS charges. Turning off S3 backup stops future syncing but does not delete objects already stored in the bucket. AWS bucket versioning or retention settings may preserve previous copies after a delete request.

Linger relies on third-party services, including Google, Cloudflare, and, when you enable S3 backup, AWS. Holiday data and fonts may also be requested from third-party providers. Those providers operate under their own terms and privacy policies. Linger is not responsible for services or content they provide, or for their availability, security, or data handling.
The Service's code, design, and branding are the property of its developer. These Terms do not grant you ownership of them. You may use the Service while complying with these Terms.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, that every save or backup will succeed, or that data stored by Google Drive or AWS will always be available. Keep your own copies of important information.
To the extent permitted by law, Linger's developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. This includes loss of data or access caused by outages, account changes, deletion, or retention practices of Google, Cloudflare, AWS, or your browser or device. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
You may stop using Linger at any time and sign out or revoke its Google authorization. Stopping use does not delete your Google Drive files, local exports, or S3 backups; you must remove those separately. We may suspend access if reasonably necessary to protect the Service or address a violation of these Terms.
Your use of Linger is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information the Service processes, where it is stored, and how to manage or delete it.
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The effective date above shows when they were last updated. If you continue to use Linger after an update, you agree to the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan.
